This week's Vincent Award goes to Brian Wargo. Brian Wargo and his friend McKenzie Clark were surfing in Hawaii's Keawaeli Bay when McKenzie was attacked by a 12-foot Tiger shark. Brian saw his friend's surf board rise out of the water on the surface of the shark's back and heard the screaming. Brian swam out to his friend, half expecting the attack to be long over, only to find the shark still there trying to pull her out to sea. Brian grabbed the shark's dorsal fin and began punching the shark in the gills until it final released McKenzie.
I can only image what it must have been like to make that swim out to a friend being attacked by a shark, not knowing what you were going to find at the end of that swim.
